Privacy policy
Effective 25 October 2026
Rennur has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no servers of its own. Your workouts and runs stay on your watch and your phone unless you choose to send them somewhere.
This policy covers the Rennur app for Wear OS watches and the Rennur app for Android phones. Rennur is made by an independent developer — “I” and “me” below. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@rennur.app.
What the apps record
During a run, on the watch: your location from GPS, your heart rate, and movement data such as steps and cadence, read through Wear OS Health Services. From these the app works out time, distance, pace, laps and time in heart-rate zones.
What you enter: workouts, your training plan, heart-rate settings (maximum and resting heart rate, zones), typical paces, alert and display preferences, and title templates for runs you upload.
That's all. The apps don't read your contacts, photos, messages or anything else on your devices.
Why
Only to run your workouts, show your runs back to you and let you export them. Your data is not used for advertising or profiling, and it is never sold or handed to anyone.
Where it is kept
In the apps' private storage on your watch and your phone. I don't run any server that receives it, and I can't see it.
How it moves between your devices
The watch and the phone exchange your plan and your runs through the Wearable Data Layer, which is part of Google Play services. The data goes from your watch to your phone and back; Google Play services decide how to carry it (Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, or through Google when the devices aren't connected directly). That transport is covered by Google's privacy policy.
Backups
- Android backup. If backup is turned on on your phone, Android saves the phone app's database and settings to your own Google account, as it does for other apps. GPS track files are left out. You can turn this off in your phone's settings.
- Backup file. You can export everything to a single zip file. Where that file goes is up to you.
When data leaves your devices
Only when you send it:
- Sharing a run. When you share a TCX or GPX file or upload it to a service such as Strava, that service's own privacy policy applies to what you send.
- Your own server. The watch can optionally sync with a server that you run yourself. If you set that up, your plan and runs go to the address you enter. I don't run such a server.
Permissions
- Location
- GPS track, distance and pace. Used only while you get ready to run and during the run.
- Heart rate
- Heart rate and zones during a run.
- Physical activity
- Steps and cadence, for example to auto‑pause when you stop.
- Notifications
- The ongoing-run notification that lets you get back to an active run.
- Internet (watch)
- Only for the optional sync with your own server.
No third parties
The apps contain no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting libraries. The only outside components that handle your data are Wear OS Health Services and Google Play services, which are part of your devices.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the apps deletes everything they stored on your watch and phone. To remove an Android backup, delete it in your Google account's backup settings. Files you exported or shared stay wherever you put them.
Children
Rennur isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
